what SylSmart

can do for you

Feilo Sylvania’s Sylsmart for connected buildings features a Sensor Node that is integrated into each luminaire during manufacture. Each Sensor Node contains a motion sensor, infrared transmitter, infrared receiver, ambient light sensor and an intelligent microprocessor. SylSmart delivers these additional value through decentralised intelligence. Every luminaire contains a node which results in each unit auto detecting it's neighbor seamlessly. As a result SylSmart enabled luminaires provide the following attributes ‘straight out of the box’.

AUTO COMMISSIONING:

All SylSmart enabled luminaires will automatically detect their neighbours and surrounding conditions and auto commission themselves to act as a system without any programming. Simply install the luminaires, connect the power and you are done.

MAXIMUM USER COMFORT:

The SylSmart control algorithm results in the highest level of user comfort. Each node lights up gradually on detection of an approaching occupant, preventing sudden light level changes that users perceive as uncomfortable.

IMPRESSIVE ENERGY SAVINGS POSSIBLE:

Due to the high amount of sensors and more efficient algorithms SylSmart enabled luminaires can control an area with much finer control than other central control systems, or by any human intervention.

This ensures that only the luminaires required to adequately light a space are illuminated, doubling energy saving from 20-30% for a typical DALI system to 60-70% of of a standard programmed system.

How it Works

  1. The moment a sensor node detects occupancy, the luminaire responds by outputting a predetermined light level. it simultaneously communicates with its neighbouring luminaires using a Level 1 proximity limited wireless infrared, telling them it can see someone. 

  2. On receipt of this Level 1 signal the neighbouring sensor nodes know that there is a presence detected to the closest light fitting, and will respond by outputting a predetermined light level appropriate to that occupancy profile (e.g. 80% brightness). They simultaneously relay a Level 2 signal to their own neighbours, notifying them of the occupant’s relative proximity. 

  3. On receipt of this Level 2 signal the neighbouring sensor nodes know that there is someone within two light fittings of them, and respond by outputting a predetermined light level appropriate to that occupancy profile (e.g. 80% brightness). They simultaneously relay a Level 3 signal to their own neighbours, notifying them of the occupant’s relative proximity.

SylSmart for Connected Buildings also allows for incredibly easy optimization of certain parameters that will further improve energy efficiency and occupancy comfort.

All optimisation is done using a smartphone app fitted with an infrared dongle.

Simply download the app from the App Store or Google Play, fit the dongle to your device, and you’re ready to optimise your lighting.

Even a basic optimisation delivers real benefits and can be completed without any formal training.
